Johnny is In Heaven

"I press towards the goal of the prize for the upward call of God in Jesus Christ" Phillipians 3:14

Johnny climbed the the stairway to heaven today at 12:20pm. Scarlett and I were there to love him and cheer him on until the last moment. He went in peace. He knew where he was going. He waited for me to get back from letting Lucky out so Scarlett would not be alone. We praise God from whom all blessings flow, that he is now out of constant pain and in the arms of his mother and loved ones.

Stay tuned for the last chapter of Johnny's Journey to Victory. It is a glorious look at a man who never gave up hope and a review of all the lessons we learned on the journey.

His funeral will be next Saturday at 12pm at Ponte Vedra Valley - 4750 Palm Valley Road in Ponte Vedra Beach. Everyone who followed Johnny's journey is invited to this "wang dang doodle" of a party celebrating Johnny's life.

Oh what a glorious reunion he had when he arrived in heaven and now he is with our precious Lord without any pain or cancer. He truly has fought a good fight, he has finished the race and has kept the faith. What a wonderful testimony he has been to so many others and I thank you so much for sharing his journey with us. My heart is very heavy for you and Scarlett because your precious one is gone from you right now. I very well know your pain because I have walked in your steps and my prayers are with you..IN JESUS' SWEET LOVE..

Long time blog stalker... first time commenter.

I've been thinking of Scarlett all day and noticed she hadn't blogged. Then something told me to check on Johnny.

...Oh how the angels in heaven are singing because he's home.

While a joyous occassion for Johnny to be with his maker...

...we here on Earth still miss him.

My prayers are with you and Scarlett.

Dear Rene and Scarlett,
I am so sorry to hear of Johnny's passing. It is comforting and healing to know that he is dancing with the king of kings now. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. You have a selfless love of your husband and that has been inspiring to me. It reminds me what a precious gift family is. Thank you for opening your heart to us on you blog.

I am very sad for both of you. When my grandmother passed a couple years ago, they played "I can only imagine" by Mercy Me at her funeral and I thought it was great because he mentions dancing with Jesus when he sees Him and I could just imagine my grandmother who had been in the hospital and was very overweight with knee troubles dancing carefree and "weightless" with Jesus - happy and healthy. I know Johnny is just as happy (and healthy) dancing with Jesus tonight.

I am keeping you and Scarlett in my thoughts and prayers.

I noticed that Scarlett hadn't blogged in a while and so I thought I'd check on thing through you.

My instinctual response is to say "I'm sorry." There really is NEVER a good time to lose your spouse or to lose your parent. There really isn't. I gives me some shred of happiness to know that you both had the chance to express your love to him and to each other in so remarkable ways, especially towards the end. There's a calmness in knowing that you got the chance to "say it all." In that respect, I hope you have peace. Your faith as a wife and mother is strong. May God continue to lift you up and richly bless the two of you. Johnny left a legacy of love in you and Scarlett, and other's will forever be touched by the band of love that emanates from the two of you because of him.

God Bless,

Prudence
